Carol Jean (nee Wermeling) Grady, 89, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2021 surrounded by family. Beloved wife of the late James B. Grady for 68 years. Carol and Jim were united in marriage in 1952 and created a family of four children. They started out as newlyweds in Baltimore, Maryland, during Jim's tour of duty with the Army Counterintelligence Unit at Fort Meade. After that they made their home in Cincinnati for 68 years. Carol was a devoted daughter to Marie and Lawrence Wermeling and daughter-in-law to Henrietta and Bernard Grady. She was an avid bridge player, great cook and enjoyed many wonderful travels. Her favorite trip was a pilgrimage to Medjugore, Yugoslavia, where the Blessed Virgin Mary has been appearing since 1981. After her kids started school, Carol volunteered at Good Samaritan Hospital as an emergency room liaison where she comforted families during stressful times. She volunteered at Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, where she and her husband Jim worked side-by-side. She also served as a volunteer prayer partner in a local prison ministry. In her 50s, Carol trained as a Healing Touch practitioner at Good Samaritan Hospital. She provided this soothing healing therapy to mothers confined to bedrest waiting for their babies. She was honored to be chosen as part of the Healing Touch volunteer team. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; sisters Dolly (Vince) and Betty (Ken); and parents (Marie and Lawrence). As a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Carol is survived by her children Sheri Piper (Kevin), Sue Trotta (Joe), James G. Grady (Kathy) and Joseph Grady (Lisa), eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janet and Bill Helmes. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Lawrence Church in Price Hill on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, Carol may be remembered with a donation to Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen and Social Center, 1730 Race St., Cincinnati, Ohio, 45202. B.J. Meyer Sons Funeral Home serving the family.
